Moment Energy launched its first pilot project in August 2020 at the unique Canadian Hydrokinetic Turbine Test Center. This experience demonstrated the remarkable capabilities of second-life batteries.

The Challenge

Researchers developing cutting-edge renewable energy technologies faced a significant hurdle: the need for a fully operational microgrid to test their innovations. Building and maintaining such a setup is complex, expensive, and time-consuming.

The Solution

To accelerate testing and gather real-world data under intense usage, Moment Energy's battery energy storage system (BESS) is cycled up to five times daily. Our BESS's ability to charge from diverse sources, including hydrokinetic turbines, diesel generators, the grid, and solar power, further enhances the comprehensiveness of these tests.
