Moment Energy’s first pilot was in the remarkable Canadian Hydrokinetic Turbine Test Center. This project was launched in August 2020, and has shown us how capable second-life batteries are.
The Challenge
Researchers needed a full microgrid set up to test new renewable energy technologies.
The Solution
Moment Energy’s battery energy storage system (BESS) is cycled there up to five times a day, giving us real-world data on intense battery-use conditions and accelerating testing time. Our BESS is able to charge off of many different sources including hydrokinetic turbines, diesel generators, the grid and solar.
